Friendsgiving Pie Treat Favors - Cricut Design Studio

Hi everyone,

When I saw this adorable pie-shaped box with the cute "Friendsgiving" tag in Cricut Design Studio, I knew it would be a perfect treat holder for the ladies in my crafting group.  What I didn't realize until after I cut it was that it was literally sized to fit a piece of pie.  How fun is that!

I knew I couldn't take actual pie to my group, although it would have been an awesome treat. I decided to fill this box with some yummy cookies instead. It's large enough that you could fill it with just about any treat, even a small gift.      

                             

As it turned out, the eight slices I made were just enough to create a legit pie. It made a darling presentation on a large round platter.

 

I can see making these for so many different occasions. The flowers are relatively neutral, and decorations for any occasion or season could be adapted.  Next time, I'd love to use these with REAL pie!

O' Holy Night Christmas - Lori Whitlock Pop Up Card SVG

I can't take much credit for the design of this beautiful Lori Whitlock SVG Pop Up Box Card because I cut out the layers on my Cricut pretty much as they were. Gluing the layers takes some precision but once I got the hang of it I made 28 of these cards in a relatively short time.  I usually change things up quite a bit with SVG's, but I loved this card just as it was. I did happen to have the perfect sentiment in my stash and I glittered things up a bit with white and gold glitter papers.  I also added rhinestones to the stars to make them shine.  This card is sparklicious in person! 

Here's my Panoply Pattern:

TECHNIQUES:

1. Purchase and download Lori Whitlock SVG into Cricut Design Space.
2. I didn't change the size  because 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 was the largest size for the mat.
3. I like to change all the dotted fold lines to score lines.
4. Be sure to attach score lines to layer before cutting!
5. Choose paper and cut according to paper thickness.  I like to use the fabric setting on thick cardstock.
6. Fold on score lines. Make sure card folds evenly into a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 card.
7. On this card, I didn't cut out the sentiment because I used a stamp from my stash.
8. Align layers and glue.
9. Use a bone folder to flatten folds.
10. Stamp sentiment with black ink and line panel using gold leafing pen.
11. Add embellishments and make it your own.

• Tombow Mono Liquid Adhesive
• Sookwang double sided tape

TIPS:

The windows in the Bethlehem layer were very intricate and I had to do a lot of punching out with a stylus.  I chose to do a solid navy layer for the mechanism layer. (I used the contour feature in design space).  The windows aren't open all the way through, but the navy layer looks fine.

I used Sookwang tape on the tabs of the box mechanism to make it stronger.

I glued the top wise men layer to the blue panel first and then lined it up with the card base panel.  This helps everything to line up perfectly.

Autumn Fairy in Fall Shades - Norma Burnell Digi

For a Copic junkie like me, the autumn color palette is absolute heaven.  I find myself using color combinations I normally wouldn't use and I'm always surprised at how pretty they turn out. I guess I should pay more attention to Mother Nature.  She's the quintessential master painter of all things beautiful, after all. I made this card for my dear friend's November birthday.  

Here's my Panoply Pattern:

💁 TECHNIQUES:

1.   Download a beautiful image from this Etsy store. 
2.   Color image with Copics and colored pencils   
3.   Back image panel with slightly smaller rectangle of fun foam.
4.   Cut out card base and layers on Cricut 
5.   I resized my base in Cricut Design Space to A7 size
6.   Edge layers with gold metallic pen
7.   Add Stickles to edges of flower petals with small paint brush.
8.   Punch flourish with paper punch out of gold metallic card stock
9.   Change it up and make it your own.

TIPS:

        

A die cut easel  makes this bracket card easy to display.  I love this one from Elizabeth Crafts.

       

There are a lot of really good YouTube videos that explain how to use Cricut Design Space. It's well worth the effort to learn how to manipulate your die cuts.

Magenta Style Christmas Cards - Dimension with Corkboard and Chipboard

Hello everyone!  I just found another treasure in my Christmas stash that I'm excited to share with you. I made these cards a while ago in a Sandy Brien class at the Stamp Art Shoppe and I still think the designs are stunning. Magenta corkboard and chipboard give them beautiful dimension. 

TECHNIQUES:

I sponged the tree card with "lettuce" alcohol ink using an applicator tool and the ball ornaments with "red pepper" alcohol ink using Q-tips.  When the tree was dry, I stamped and embossed the snowflakes with white embossing powder.  I punched out a chipboard snowflake and painted it with gold metallic watercolor. Lastly, I stamped and embossed the sentiment with  white embossing powder.  

For this card, I stamped and embossed the snowflakes and words as shown.  I inked a large snowflake and embossed with white embossing powder. I splattered the background with white embossing powder and heated with my embossing tool.  The smaller snowflakes were painted with metallic paints in gold and silver.  

I colored the corkboard cardinal on this card with "red pepper" alcohol ink using a Q-tip.  I stamped and embossed the snowflakes and words in white on the small layer as shown. I stamped and embossed the reindeer with a patterned snowflake stamp using Versamark ink and white embossing powder.  After the reindeer cooled, I inked and embossed him with clear embossing powder. It doesn't show up here, but the shiny finish looks amazing.

I think this was my favorite card to create. I colored the chipboard birds and greenery with markers.  I slightly moistened a paintbrush and blended the colors.  The edges of the chipboard are outlined with a brown pen and I used a black Sharpie for the eyes.  I used a white colored pencil to add the lines on the leaves and to color the birds' chests. When the chipboard was dry, I added two coats of clear embossing.  For the snow, I sprinkled a little bit of embossing powder onto the chipboard and heated with my embossing tool.

TIPS:

Glossy accents is a good sturdy glue for adhering heavier objects like chipboard.

When layering embossing powder, be careful to let each layer cool slightly before adding the next layer.

Whew!  That's a lot of information but these cards are really worth the effort.  I think they're so lovely and elegant. I'm glad I bought extra chipboard and corkboard so I can play!
