Pondering in the Wetlands - Make it Crafty Digi Scene in Copics

Indulge your imagination in every possible flight.
Jane Austen - Pride and Prejudice

Copic markers, Make it Crafty digi's, gold leafing pen, dragonfly die,
Spellbinders die, white glitter paper, blue card stock, white gel pen

Hey there,

I chose contemplative little Jacinta from Make it Crafty for my focal image in this birthday card for my crafty girlfriend, continuing my "girl in scenic setting" birthday series.   She looks deep in thought and this fancy fern log is a perfect place for her to indulge her imagination. I love red mushrooms with white dots but they've always seemed sort of fanciful to me.  However, I usually color my mushrooms that way because they are so bright and pretty.   I googled them and to my surprise I found out they actually exist.  They're called fly agaric, or fly amanita and they're hallucinogenic!  Literally magic mushrooms!  So yeah, she's sitting in the middle of magic mushrooms, but she obviously knows they're toxic so she won't touch them...at least not on my blog page.

I do love all the ferny foliage in this tranquil scene.  I added a die cut gold dragonfly with purple pearl accents for some extra dimension  As usual, I edged the image panel with gold  and backed it with a white glitter Spellbinders frame.

Another scenic birthday card in the books.

Thanks for visiting.
Go forth and observe the pretty red speckled mushrooms...but don't touch!

Autumn Treat for My Besties - Cricut Design Studio Box

“Thank goodness for all the things you are not, thank goodness you're not something someone forgot, and left all alone in some punkerish place, like a rusty tin coat hanger hanging in space.”
Dr. Seuss, Did I Ever Tell You How Lucky You Are

Cricut Maker, Design Space print then cut label, Design Space treat box, designer card stock,
gems, checked ribbon, black card stock,

Hey all,

Paper crafting twice a month with my incredibly talented and entertaining besties is one of my favorite pastimes.  Every holiday, birthday and well...any special occasion,  I can expect a unique and personalized card or treat from these amazing artisans.  Currently,  I'm busy working on special Christmas cards and gifts for my family and friends, so I decided to make an Autumn treat box instead of a card for our Thanksgiving meeting.

I searched several SVG shops for an appropriate holiday treat box and realized I could design an equally festive one in Cricut Design Space.  This cute box was simple to cut, print and assemble and, filled  with assorted  chocolate treats, was a welcome energy booster for a  day of paper crafting. We  spent our day making beautiful Christmas cards, compliments of our resident Close to My Heart consultant.  And of course, a yummy lunch is always the order of the day

My brand new Cricut Maker is fast becoming one of my best craft room buddies.  I debated whether to upgrade after my Explore Air 2 died a couple of weeks ago, and I'm very glad I did.  It's turning out to be a real work horse and the cuts are intricate and clean...just in time for all my holiday projects.  I'm a believer!

Hope you all have a blessed and fabulous Thanksgiving.

Thanks for visiting.
Go forth and be grateful every day.

Autumn Magic - Normal Burnell Autumn's Wish Fairy

They are much to be pitied who have not been given a taste of nature early in life.
Jane Austen - Mansfield Park

Copic markers, Norma Burnell digi image, Elizabeth Crafts butterfly die, green card stock,
copper metallic card stock, black pearl embellishments

Hey there,

I absolutely love the stunning detail in Norma Burnell images.  When I color them I feel the need  to  slow down and enjoy every beautiful element of  her design.  They never fail to mesmerize me and take me to a tranquil world of my own. This Autumn's Wish fairy image has no grey scale shadows, which I'm finding I prefer. It's more relaxing for me to have the freedom of creating my own shadows as I color.  It's a little trickier and more random, but this is a fairy, and with all that twinkling going on around her, who can say where her light source is.

I chose bright, vivid colors for my woodland fairy because I love all the magical rich tones of autumn.  I mounted my focal panel on a z-fold card and found the perfect sentiment in my stamp stash for the inside.

I like the way this card stands up for display and exposes the inside panel.  I embellished it with a lacy butterfly for a little added dimension.   The images are mounted on copper matte metallic card stock to compliment the fall hues.

Thanks for visiting,
Go forth and enjoy the exquisite artistry of an autumn landscape.
