Autumn Fairy in Fall Shades - Norma Burnell Digi

Hi there!

For a Copic junkie like me, the autumn color palette is absolute heaven.  I find myself using color combinations I normally wouldn't use and I'm always surprised at how pretty they turn out. I guess I should pay more attention to Mother Nature.  She's the quintessential master painter of all things beautiful, after all. I made this card for my dear friend's November birthday.  

Here's my Panoply Pattern:

💁 TECHNIQUES:

1.   Download a beautiful image from this Etsy store. 
2.   Color image with Copics and colored pencils   
3.   Back image panel with slightly smaller rectangle of fun foam.
4.   Cut out card base and layers on Cricut 
5.   I resized my base in Cricut Design Space to A7 size
6.   Edge layers with gold metallic pen
7.   Add Stickles to edges of flower petals with small paint brush.
8.   Punch flourish with paper punch out of gold metallic card stock
9.   Change it up and make it your own.

 ✂ TOOLS AND SUPPLIES:

*     Copic markers

*     Copic Xpress paper

*     Colored pencils

*     Krylon 18kt. Gold Leafing Pen

*     Stickles Stardust Glitter Glue

*     Flourish paper punch

*     Assorted paper flowers and leaves

*     Colored card stock for base and layers

*     Gold metallic card stock for flourish

*     Cricut Close to My Heart Art Philosophy Cartridge

*     Cricut Expression die cutting machine

TIPS:

        

A die cut easel  makes this bracket card easy to display.  I love this one from Elizabeth Crafts.

       

There are a lot of really good YouTube videos that explain how to use Cricut Design Space. It's well worth the effort to learn how to manipulate your die cuts.

Lovely Lady Birthday Cards - Normal Burnell Digi's

This month it is again my honor and privilege to create two birthday cards for my sweet friends in our bi-weekly card group.  It is our tradition to make cards for the birthday girl and the result is a beautiful array of original cards for her to take home.  Only handmade card artists can appreciate the happy significance of this for both giver and recipient. 

I have lately become enamored with the beautiful mystical art of Norma Burrell.  These stunning fairy digital images were purchased from her Etsy shop.  I love that I can download them immediately after I purchase them and have them ready to color with just some sizing and a quick printing on Copic compatible paper.  I  die cut these images with a Spellbinders label die which I outlined with a silver paint marker.  I had an absolutely delightful time coloring them with my Copic markers. I added a little glitz to the flowers in their hair with some sparkly peel off stickers and embellished the corner with a glittered rose. The card base and layers are from a Close to My Heart Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge file which I sized to 5"x7" in Cricut Design Space.  I like to  die cut  matching easels to send with my cards if the recipient chooses to display them.

Girlie art makes me so happy!

Stampendous Tutu Toad - Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside /Cricut CTMH Artfully Sent Pop Ups

This delightful little Tutu Toad from Stampendous has been staring at me everyday for five years from the shelf above my working desk and says, "please let me make someone smile today."  This week I finally had the opportunity to make her wish come true. My friend is recuperating from knee replacement surgery and I think this googly-eyed tiny dancer might be just the encouragement she needs to get her tip toeing through the tulips again soon.  Or at least doing some arabesques in rehab.  In my first attempt at this Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside scene, I created the pop up inside my card but I found my tulips were too floppy and I didn't like the way the pop up looked.  So I aborted my original plan, as I do so often, and created my scene on the front of my card sans the pop up.  I think my little lady and flowers are much sturdier raised with pop dots on this flatter surface.

I still had a vision of a cute pop up inside my card.  I discovered this perfect get well pop up on the Close to My Heart Artfully Sent Cartridge in Cricut Design Space. There's just enough space for me to write my "tip toe through the tulips" note.  Sometimes the best laid plans are replaced by even better ones.
