Conie Fong January Design Team Project #1 - Penguin Bundle of Love Box Card

Valentine's Day is precisely what the spirit needs.  It is hot chocolate for the soul.
It is a bright splash of color on a stark white canvas.
The day reminds us to reaffirm our love, or perhaps to give voice
to that which has remained unsaid.    Dorothy Denneen Volo

Hey there from Nannyland,

I hope you all had a fabulous holiday season, as I did, and are getting excited to create some heartfelt cards  full of mushy sentiments to express your devotion to your tribe on Valentines day.  I enjoy switching gears and creating all things love-related when the holiday season winds down. When I lived in California, it never occured to me to  put a wintery bundled-up penguin on a Valentine card.  But now that I live in a cooler climate,  it makes sense that penguins and snowmen should still hang around in the chilly, snowy months of February and March to help us celebrate the season of l'amour.

Conie Fong Penguin Bundle of Love digi, Copic markers, Lori Whitlock card base,Cricut Maker,
pink heart gems, glitter heart acrylic stickers, white gel pen, stitched die for snow, patterned paper

I can't imagine a cuter messenger of love than this little "Penguin Bundle of Love" digital stamp from Conie Fong.  You can find her/him in Conie Fong's Etsy shop here.  After I  colored her with Copic markers,  I fussy cut her and adhered her to the front panel of my pop-up box card.  The Z-fold base is a Lori Whitlock svg that I have saved in Cricut Design Space and have used many times to make Valentine cards.  The cute pop-up hearts in the middle sparkle with pink gems and glitter sticker hearts. I covered my card panels with coordinating patterned paper and used the writing feature in Cricut Design Space to create the sentiment tags. I die cut a stitched die to create the dimension for the snow on the bottom panels and lined each panel with a silver leafing pen.  I used a white gel pen to add dots to the hearts and a green fine liner to create the stripes on the large heart.

I'll be using  more of Conie's incredible images for my Valentine's cards this year.  You will find tons of them in Conie's Etsy Shop here.  I would love for you to stop by and see what else I've created. I hope I have inspired you to incorporate some cute winter images into your Valentine cards this year.

Conie Fong December Design Team Project #1 - Noelle's Gift

Christmas is the spirit of giving without a thought to getting.
Thomas S. Monson

Hey there from Nannyland,

Although my home is full of Christmas flair and I've been watching Hallmark movies for a couple of weeks, I feel the full-on holiday festivities can officially commence now that Thanksgiving is over and December is here.  I'm thrilled that all my cards are made and most of my presents are bought.  I have even completed two quilts for some special people on my gift list. It's kind of a scary feeling to be so on top of things for a change...what could go wrong?

I colored and fussy cut this absolutely adorable Conie Fong digital stamp called Noelle's Gift for my first Design Team project this month.  There are so many fabulous holiday images in Conie's Etsy Shop to choose from, and I loved coloring this one with feminine pinks and blues along with the traditional reds and greens. I think she looks so darling in her Santa outfit surrounded by colorful gifts and poinsettias.  I colored and fussy cut this Noelle's Gifts Bonus image with extra flowers and presents to layer on her for dimension. I thought she needed a card base as girly as she is, so I created a shaped frame from a lacy layered die in pink and white.  I added a few gold gems to the poinsettia centers and embellished her gifts with white gel pen accents.  The silver edged sentiment tag was created in Cricut Design Space.

I hope I have inspired you to change up some of the traditional holiday colors in your card making to add a feminine touch for some of your girly images.

Thanks for visiting Nannyland.
I'll just be here blissfully creating until your next visit.

Conie Fong November Design Team Project - Christmas Leilani

I like to compare the holiday season with the way a child listens to a favorite story.
The pleasure is in the familiar way the story begins, the anticipation of familiar turns it takes,
the familiar moments of suspense and the familiar climax and ending.
Fred Rogers

Hey there from Nannyland,

Choosing from among the many gorgeous holiday images in Conie Fongs Etsy shop has made my Design Team projects a joy to create.  This fabulous image is called Christmas Leilani and you can find her in Conie's shop here.

I printed her out twice on Xpressit blending paper and colored her with Copic markers.  The poinsettias are fussy cut and popped up with pop dots over the base image for dimension.  I had created and saved the card base for an earlier project in Cricut Design Space and I loved that my image fit so perfectly on this fun design.  Glitter gold and red cardstocks, and a touch of metallic gold make this card festive and elegant.  The blue snowy paper is digi paper printed on my computer.

Yes, I'm aware we haven't even celebrated Thanksgiving yet and I will be posting an autumn card next week.  I have vowed not to put up any Christmas decorations until the weekend after Thanksgiving, and so far, so good.  But I might sneak in a Hallmark movie or two before then.

Thanks for visiting Nannyland.
I'll just be here blissfully creating until your next visit.

Conie Fong DT Priscilla Digi Stamp - Breast Cancer Awareness and Halloween Unite

Yes, my boobs are fake.  The real ones tried to kill me!

Hey there from Nannyland,

October is the month of Breast Cancer Awareness and Halloween, two things I'm very passionate about.  As a two-time breast cancer survivor,  I'm happy for the opportunity to combine my obsessions with two of my other favorite things, pink and Conie Fong images.  This little stunner called Priscilla  can be found in Conie's Etsy shop.  She looks fabulous decked out in her uncharacteristic though very jazzy frock and stylish accessories. I'd pick whimsical over spooky every time, except in the case of sugar skulls, of course.

I cut the swirly frame and haunted house in Cricut Design Space using image #M46AA4 from the Happy Hauntings image set.  I used the writing feature to create the sentiment, which I think is perfect for this nontraditional card.   The original cut file comes with some cute spiders, but I traded them for sparkly pink gems.  I doesn't take much to girly up a card here in Nannyland.

I invite you to color up a beautiful Conie Fong image and join us for inspiration, challenges and fun at Conie Fong Art and Design.

Conie Fong Princess Aria - Design Team Inspiration

There are two times of year:  Autumn and waiting for Autumn.

Hey there, welcome to Nannyland,

My second Design Team project this month for Conie Fong Art and Design was a delight to create, using her enchanting digital image called Princess Aria which can be found, along with many other amazing images, in her fabulous Etsy Shop   The sample in her shop depicts Princess Aria as a magical Snow White princess in front of a woodland cottage, but I thought it would be fun to change her up and give her a fall vibe.  I used an autumn palette, with my favorite aqua for an accent color, and nestled her in a sunny fall digi landscape.  She is bordered with a white Spellbinders frame die cut which I embellished with pearl gems.

I love how changing a color scheme can make an image look completely different. Princess Aria would also look amazing colored in Christmas colors with a basket full of poinsettias, and a little red bird.  But maybe in front of a fireplace?  That's why we love using digi stamps so much, isn't it?  We can manipulate their size and, just by using our imaginations, they can become anything we want them to be.

Hope your fall is off to a colorful, cozy start.

Conie Fong Penelope Poppy - Design Team Inspiration

Summer's lease hath all too short a date.  - William Shakespeare

Conie Fong Penelope Poppy digital stamp, Copic markers, die cut frame
and flowers, pink polka dot dp, white gel pen, small gems on flip flops

Hey there, welcome to Nannyland,

After a couple of blissful months as a Guest Designer for Conie Fong Art and Design, I'm thrilled to be an official Design Team member beginning this month. Yayyyy!  It will be absolutely delightful creating inspiration projects with Conie's stunning images.

Poppies might be my favorite flowers because I think the centers look like sparkly jewelry.   I chose this darling Penelope Poppy image for my first DT project .  You can find her, along with  many other gorgeous images, in Conie's Etsy Shop.  I took the opportunity to say one last farewell to jeans and flip flops before fall begins, even though it's 106 degrees in the shade here in the desert.

I colored Penelope with Copics, fussy cut her and adhered her to a very "vintage" frame die that I found in my stash.  It turned out to be a hidden treasure because it fits my image perfectly and has separate matching flower dies for layering.   I die cut the flowers  in white card stock, colored them with  Copics that matched my image, added white gel pen accents and layered them with small die cut blooms. I embellished Penelope's stylish flip flops with small gems and added white gel pen polka dots to her outfit.

With each passing year, the seasons seem to get shorter and shorter.  The autumn leaves will soon take on the colors of a box of Trix cereal, the breezes will get a little cooler on my morning walks and Nannyland will soon fill up with fall and Halloween projects.  Um...I think the transition has already started.  It's getting spooky in here.

July Guest Design Team Project - Conie Fong Little Blossom

You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start
where you are and change the ending.  - C.S. Lewis

Hey there from Nannyland,

This month I continue to have the pleasure and privilege of creating Guest Design Team projects for Conie Fong Art.  For this project I chose this absolutely adorable image called Little Blossom.  You can find her in Conie's Etsy store HERE.  She was a joy to color in Copic shades of red and pink.

I created the tree trunk in Cricut Design Space and, since I couldn't find my white glitter paper, I cut it out in white card stock and then added sparkle with Nuvo Glitter Accents in Fresh Snowball. I love all the  beautiful glittery texture! The frame was also sized and cut with my Cricut and then edged with a gold leafing pen. I used the Cricut writing feature to  write my sentiment on an octagon shape and added a gold foil offset layer.   The blossoms are Spellbinders Mini Blooms and Sprigs,  cut out in white card stock and colored with Copic markers.

I discovered some origami paper in my stash that matched my color scheme and added a little paper piecing to her skirt.  I used a light gray Copic marker to create soft folds. The background panel for my card is ombre DP with subtle embossed white tree branches. This was my inspiration to create a white cherry blossom tree.  I tried a dark brown trunk but decided Conie's beautiful image shows up better against a lighter background.

I still have another Guest Design Team project for Conie this month and I already have a fabulous image colored and ready for a fun card design.  I'd love for you to come back and see the finished project.  I'm having such a delightful time designing with Conie's marvellous art work!

Conie Fong Art Guest Designer - Heartfelt Delilah

Gazing at beautiful things acts on my soul.
Michelangelo

Hey there from Nannyland,

Conie Fong has so many incredible images in her Etsy Shop, I've been having a hard time choosing which ones I will use for my Guest Designer projects for the next couple of months.  This gorgeous image is called Delilah and you can find her in Conie's Etsy shop  here.    Her beautiful soulful eyes and luxurious hair were a joy to blend with Copic markers in one of my favorite color combos.  The flowers and butterflies were also fun details to shade. I fussy cut my colored image and attached her to a rectangle dp panel which I lined with a gold leafing pen.  The "wish" sentiment is a Sizzix die with a base layer.

I created the shaped card base by placing a Heartfelt Creations frame die on the fold of a white card base and running it through my Gemini. Here is a tutorial that explains how I did this.

I'll be mirthfully creating more Design Team projects using Conie's amazing art for the next couple of months. They'll be posted in Conie's FaceBook Group here, where you'll find tons of inspiration.  You can also enter your own projects into the Conie Fong Art monthly challenge for a chance to win some fabulous images.

Conie Fong Art Guest Designer - Feeling Fabulous Digi

The true beauty of a woman is reflected in her soul.
It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she knows.
Audrey Hepburn

Hey there from Nannyland,

I'm "over the moon" excited for the honor of being a Guest Designer for the fabulous artist, Conie Fong, for the months of June and July. She is one of my all-time favorite artists and I go to her images often when I want to color beautiful angelic faces with sweet poses, as you can see from my previous posts here.    Her stunning artwork also includes many adorable animals and gorgeous florals which you can purchase and download from her amazing Etsy Shop.  I had a delightful time coloring the gorgeous image on this card, titled "Feeling Fabulous."  You can find her in Conie Fong's Etsy Shop here.

This cute little stunner, trying her best to be grown up and glamorous, deserved to be spotlighted with a pretty die cut wreath, which I cut 4 times from white shimmer card stock and stacked together for dimension.  I added a few die cut mini flowers for some zhuzh factor. I kept my background simple so my sweet damsel could take center stage. I added the wreath to a subtle striped panel, which I framed with gold foil card stock. I backed my panel with craft foam and glued it to a white 5 x 7 card base. I found a fun hello sentiment in my stash that was the perfect color and size. Voila...a card was born.

Thanks for visiting Nannyland.

613 Avenue Create Guest Designer - Paper Shelter Autumn Breeze

Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.– F. Scott Fitzgerald

The Paper Shelter Autumn Breeze digi, Copic markers, Cricut Design Studio
cutting and writing, white gel pen, dragonfly die, small gems

Hey there,

I'm thrilled to be a Guest Designer this month for the fabulous 613 Avenue Create Challenge!  Autumn is  my absolute favorite season and our theme for August is to create a fall project using a choice of four gorgeous color palettes.  I love the cool slate blue colors combined with the warm autumn yellows and oranges in palette #2.  I think the contrast is so crisp and fresh for my breezy scene.

This gorgeous digital stamp by The Paper Shelter has some amazing detail for Copic coloring.  I was delighted to find a leaf frame in Cricut Design Studio to border my fall scene.  I used digital paper for  both my leaves and the cloudy sky.  My sentiment was created in Cricut Design Studio.

Be sure to hop on over to the 613 Avenue blog and see which of the four fall palettes speaks to you.  Their challenges are always friendly and fun!

Thanks for visiting.
Go forth and enjoy the lovely shades of autumn.
