Julia Spiri Happy Fairy Journal Page - A Joyful Heart is Good Medicine

“Laughter is like taking a good medicine.” Every day you need to take your medicine. Find something that makes you laugh.

Hey there from Nannyland,

If you need a warm smile to cheer you up, Julia Spiri's beautiful images are sure to make that happen.  I've discovered the more I laugh and grin, the better I feel, no matter what challenges life sends my way.  This darling girl is called Happy Fairy and you can find her in Julia's shop here. Just look at her adorable dimpled smile and those twinkling eyes.   Could she be any more adorable?

I love making journal pages that immediately give me a lift as I flip through them.  I challenge you to try and keep from smiling when you look at Julia's magical artwork.  I have a dear friend who is going through a difficult health challenge and I plan to make a card with this image and use the same bible quote from Proverbs: 17:22.

I used a Ranger Dylusion Journal page for this entry and mounted my Copic-colored image to a white Spellbinders die cut frame. I used the same frame layers to create the label for the opposite page.  I created the scripture quote in Cricut Design Space using the writing feature.  I try to keep everything as flat as I can on my pages for obvious reasons, so my pretty Spellbinders flowers are perfect for her luscious locks and as low profile frame embellishments.   Her sparkly jewelry is studded with small gems.

This little "fae" has cheered me up many times as I flip through my journal, reminding me that healing comes from a happy, blythe spirit. In fact, I think she said her name was Blythe.

Thanks for visiting Nannyland.

Peace Begins With a Smile Journal Pages - Julia Spiri Girl With Dove

Imagine all the people living life in peace. You may say I’m a dreamer,
but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us, and the world will be as one.
 John Lennon

Hey there from Nannyland,

I think we all reach a point in our lives where things seem to be whirling around us at breakneck speed, and we realize we need to slow down and find a peaceful space to rest, both physically and mentally. Nannyland is by far the most peaceful place for me and art journaling sooths my soul like no other pursuit.

Coloring this absolutely gorgeous digital stamp by Julia Spiri was just what I needed to rejuvenate my frazzled spirit. I'm trying to adjust to some new meds, and my body needs a place to practice faith in a good outcome. My original plan for  my journal pages was to use a laurel wreath die on the inspiration page, but I couldn't find it in my stash.  Once again, Cricut Design Space came to the rescue.  I found a heart-framed peace sign and added a fabulous layered dove with heart cut-outs to the center. I used the curve and writing features for my sentiment.

I love this beautiful lady's graceful arms encircling the dove and the tranquil look on her face with the slightest hint of a smile. She seems to know that God is in charge and things are going to turn out fine.

After fussy cutting her, I adhered her to a lacy white die cut with a gold scalloped panel in the center and surrounded her with sparkly blue gems. I used pink gems for her earrings and a Spellbinders flower to embellish the feathers in her hair. A white gel pen was used for extra detail.

I'm a believer that peace starts with the small gestures and kindnesses we share with those around us every day.  I know the incredible makers in our crafting community are full of smiles and encouragement for each other, whether virtual or in person.   That's why I love hanging out here so much. Sending smiles and hugs all over the place...pass it on.

Thanks for visiting Nannyland.
I'll just be here blissfully creating until your next visit.

Fantasy Journal Pages - Julia Spiri Young Fairy

Choose joy!  Don't wait for things to get easier, simpler, better.
Life will always be complicated.  Learn how to be happy right now.
Otherwise, you'll run out of time.

Hey there from Nannyland,

It's a sun-drenched Friday morning here in my lovely desert home and, as I type, I'm looking with delight at the gorgeous citrus trees outside my window.  Directly in front of me is  a lush young apricot tree full of small green orbs that will soon burst forth with my favorite fruit.  Juicy ripe home grown fruit is definitely a simple thing that brings me joy.

If you haven't checked out The Art of Julia Spiri,  you are missing a real treat.  She is a talented Spanish artist who creates with an amazing whimsical, fantasy style that I love.  I blissfully colored this stunning digi called Young Fairy with Copic markers and embellished her for my Fantasy Art journal.

I used a white Anna Griffin die cut to frame her angelic face and embellished her with Spellbinders flowers, pearls, colored rhinestones and a white gel pen.  My sentiment page was created in Cricut Design Space with the writing and cutting features.

Some of the simple things I'm delighting  in today are: a quiet morning prayer, a nature walk with red hills surrounding me, lunch at my favorite Mexican restaurant, an afternoon creating in Nannyland, my hubby across the hall in his office, an orchard in my side yard, bright flower beds in my back yard, kids laughing next door.  How about you?

Thanks for visiting Nannyland.
I'll just be here blissfully creating until your next visit.

Julia Spiri Vintage Lady Digital Stamp - Good Hair Day

I have a new hair style.  It's called "I tried."

Hey there from Nannyland,

Julia Spiri digi's are always so expressive, you can almost hear them talking. I love the way THIS lovely lady obviously doesn't hesitate to tell us what she's thinking.  Who wouldn't love to flaunt this gorgeous vintage coiffure under a stylish "picture hat."  I used Copics to color this beautiful light grayscale image and  was thrilled  the layered flowers I recently created with the Altenew Rose Flurries 3D dies added to her classic 40's flair.

It was disappointing to discover Heartfelt Creations will no longer be in business after this year, so I jumped at the chance to buy several of their 5 x 7 frame dies that I love so much. I die cut my frame with white shimmer card stock and added water color dp to the oval in the center. My image was fussy cut and added to the frame with mounting tape. I added small gems to the centers of the flowers for dimension and sparkle. The sentiment was created in Cricut Design Space with the writing and offset features.

I will save this card for my bff who has amazingly thick red locks that invite admiring glances wherever she goes.  Here's to the blessed people who seldom have bad hair days.  I wish I were one of them!

Tidings of Joy From Elizabeth - Julia Spiri Giveaway Image

“The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.” - Elf

Julia Spiri digi image (Elizabeth), Spellbinders frame die,
Cricut Design Space cutting and writing features, gems, pearls,
Copic markers, red card stock, digital dp for inset on bodice, silver leafing pen

Hey there from Nannyland,

I'm so excited that Julia Spiri. one of my all-time favorite artists, is generously giving her Facebook followers this image as a freebee until December 20.  We are asked to add our colored image to her Facebook Giveaway album, where we will have a chance to win one of her fabulous coloring books.  I'm crossing my fingers because I love her beautiful images so much!

This grayscale image called "Elizabeth" is absolutely stunning.  She was a joy to color with copics in shades of red and green, with silver accents, to create a holiday card.  I added a paper pieced inset to her bodice and green glitter Nuvo drops to her festive dangly earrings.  I cut my lacy Spellbinders frame in white card stock and added  red gems for sparkle.  The poinsettia and sentiment tag were created in Cricut Design Space. The background panel, flower and sentiment tag were lined with a silver leafing pen. I added pearl accessories for a little touch of classic elegance.

What a delightful surprise this beautiful, generous gift was.  Julia's Etsy shop is full of gorgeous images just like this one.  I think I'll go Christmas shopping in her store for some fun images to add to my Julia Spiri collection.  Merry Christmas to me. (And to you, too, of course.)

Discovering the Forgotten Fleur Lady - Julia Spiri Digi

Expect the unexpected.  Life is full of wonderful things just waiting to surprise you.

Hey there,

If you have an urge to organize your craft area on a lazy hot summer day, I say go for it!  I've been sorting my stash for a few weeks now, waiting for my eye surgery to heal, and my new HD eyes are spying some surprising abandoned treasures.  While sifting through some long forgotten unfinished projects, I found this Julia Spiri gem called Fleur.  I'm guessing I probably wasn't happy with something about my coloring...the flashy hair maybe?  But you know how that goes...put your unworthy project aside for a while and when you return to it,  the flaws don't look quite so glaring.

I thoroughly enjoyed putting together this fun quick card with all my time consuming coloring already accomplished.  I created the frame in Cricut Design Space, cut it out on my Maker  and attached it to a  5 1/2 inch square z-fold card base.  I lined the front panel with a gold leafing pen and attached it to my frame with mounting tape.  I found the beautiful pearl studded fabric flower in my stash and added coordinating pearls to the frame  I'll attach a sentiment when I choose my recipient.  I get so excited when I find unexpected surprises in my happy hub!

Thanks for visiting.
Go forth and find a treasure in an unexpected place.

Shine Fairy - Julia Spiri Digi

Let us be of good cheer, remembering that misfortunes
hardest to bear are those which never come.   Montaigne

Julia Spiri digi; Tattered Lace Pearl Square dies; Heartfelt Creations flower stamps, dies,
molds; butterfly punch, white gel pen, leaf punch, small flower punch, sentiment die

Hey there,

A beautiful wistful fairy in a magical garden is all I need when the world around me seems uncertain and perilous.  I colored THIS incredible grayscale image from Julia Spiri in one of my favorite soft color combos. The frame is created with two concentric square frames from the Tattered Lace Pearl Square Foundation die set.  My card base measures 6" x 6".

I recently spent a delightful day stamping, die cutting and molding my favorite Heartfelt Creation flowers.  Sooooo fun!   Check out the YouTube video in my Tutorial menu to see how simple and fun they are to make. Handmade flowers and handmade cards definitely go "hand-in-hand." ✋✋

Thanks for visiting.
Go forth and dream of mystical fairies in a peaceful garden.
