My World is Brighter Z-Fold Card - Mo Manning "For Teacher" Digital Stamp

I cannot endure to waste anything so precious as autumnal sunshine by staying in the house. – Nathaniel Hawthorne

Hey there from Nannyland,

The beautiful, crisp clear air on my morning walks has invigorated my spirit for all things autumn.  The bins of fruits and vegetables in the charming stand in our neighboring town have been incredibly colorful and bounteous this year.  It was a delight creating an apple orchard scene with this adorable Mo Manning digi called "For Teacher," which you can find in Mo's Digital Pencil here

After coloring this sweet image with Copic markers, I used a white gel pen to add dots to her shirt. I decorated her hair and boots with tiny die cut flowers and then adhered the fussy cut image to my favorite z-fold box card base. This is a well-loved Lori Whitlock svg that I downloaded and saved in Cricut Design Space because it's perfect for creating scenes with the included trees and house. The size when folded is 5 1/2 x 5 1/2. The punched clouds were embossed with a dot embossing folder and the  tree blossoms were created with tiny flower dies embellished with red gems. I added shine and dimension to the apples on the tree with Glossy Accents. I was happy to find the perfect sentiment stamp in my stash.

One of my favorite things to do is add small details to my scenes to  make them come alive.  I hope I have inspired you to create a picturesque autumn scene to usher in the majesty of the fall and Halloween seasons.

Z-Fold Anniversary Card - Toucan Do It Better Than One

Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Hey there from Nannyland,

After anguishing for many years with "male card dysphoria" (MCD),  I think I have finally found a formula for creating masculine cards that allows me to use my signature vivid colors and flowers, without apology.  The traditional subdued brown, green and navy hues (with mustaches, gears, and tools for embellishments) are so limited and hum drum to me.  Just google "guy cards" and you'll see what I mean.  I'm sorry...I just can't right now!  Beach themed cards are becoming my "go to" because my guy is drawn to all things coastal. Our countless adventurous and romantic trips to the picturesque shores of California, Hawaii, Canada, Europe and even Tahiti make them appropriate for just about any occasion we're celebrating.

I found this delightful toucan z-fold card in my Lori Whitlock svg library and had fun adding my own touches and a befitting sentiment.  I sometimes procrastinate making masculine cards but this one went super fast and I enjoyed every minute of the creative process.  I used my Cricut Maker to cut the pieces, using white for the smaller ones so I could  color and shade them with Copic markers. It's much easier than using tiny scraps of card stock and it adds lots of wonderful shading and dimension.  I traded the tropical flowers I originally cut for  these handmade ones in  my stash because I thought they added personality and sparkle.  Hey, flowers are for everyone!

Lori Whitlock svg, Cricut Maker, Copic markers, brown pearl gems,
Heartfelt Creations stamps, dies, mold; blue heavy card stock,
kraft card stock, white gel pen

My hubby's birthday is next month and I was able to keep  my head in the game and create another flashy, vibrant card, even without a tropical theme.  I'll be posting it in September and  I think you'll like my impressive use of brilliant colors on yet another guy card.  I'm on a roll!

Digi Doodle Studio Pop Up Box Card

Change always comes bearing gifts.   Price Pritchett

Digi Doodle Studios "Bringing Gifts" digi, Copic markers, Lori Whitlock pop up box card base,
Cricut, white gel pen, clear gems, digi snowflake paper, red card stock

Hey there from Nannyland,

This season's handmade cards are finally in the mail and my gifts are all wrapped and ready to deliver.  Since I had a moment to take a breath before all the joyful pandemonium starts, I couldn't resist creating one last holiday card with this darling Digi Doodle Studios image titled "Bringing Gifts." One of the greatest advantages to digi stamps is the ability to size them perfectly to any card base. I found this Lori Whitlock pop up box card svg in my library and exchanged the Santa image for this adorable  gift-bearing shopper. The tree and gift pop ups literally "spruce up" the cool snowy scene.  I found the perfect  "Bearing Gifts" sentiment in the Cricut Image Library.

This card was a fun and simple project to usher out a very eventful and challenging 2021. I'm praying by the time I start my Valentine's cards, our weary world will have some optimism and relief.   Bring on the mushy cards with hearts and cupids.

Thanks for visiting Nannyland.
I'll just be here blissfully creating until your next visit.

Lori Whitlock Wreath Pocket Pop-Up Box Card - Gift Card Holder and More

No one has ever become poor from giving.

Lori Whitlock svg, Copic markers, ribbon bow, assorted gems, dotted blue cardstock,
Cricut cutting and writing, red and white card stock, glitter Nuvo Drops

Hey there from Nannyland,

When I first downloaded this beautiful Lori Whitlock pocket box card, I was confused at a seemingly unnecessary box protrusion. I was delighted when I realized it contained a perfectly-sized  pouch to hold a gift card, cash or a note.  Immediately,  I went to work creating cards for appreciation gifts to my hairdresser and cleaners.  I also made them for friends and family whose gifts have to go through the unreliable mail.   I love the way they turned out!  It makes a  generic gift card a little more personal and festive.

As usual, I cut most of the pieces in white card stock on my Cricut Maker.  It's much easier to color and shade the small pieces with copics.  It was also much simpler to print the sentiment directly on my front panel with the writing feature in Design Space than to cut out the detailed sentiment in black card stock.   I had the best time adding beads, bows and gems to embellish.

It's a lot more rewarding to present gift cards or money to my loved ones in a way that shows I care enough to make something special for them.    As it turns out, this pocket pop-up box card has become a favorite and I can see many fun uses for it in the future.

Fathers Day Beach Scene - Lori Whitlock Pop Up Box Card

Dads are most ordinary men turned by love into heroes, adventurers,
story-tellers and singers of song.
  Pam Brown

Lori Whitlock svg, Cricut cutting and writing features, Copic markers,
swirl embossing folder, silver gems

 Hey there,

Initially, this adorable beach scene svg from Lori Whitlock seemed a little too ambitious for me to finish in a week for Father's Day.  A Guest Design Team project, birthday and quilting projects, along with pending cataract surgery were looming large and taking up my energy and mojo.   But  I decided to go for it, and I'm so glad I did.

I like to cut out small pieces for a project like this in white card stock on my Cricut Maker, and then color them with Copics.  It's so much easier and I can shade them to give them a little more pizazz.  The card base, mats and  the two blue van layers were the only pieces I cut with colored card stock and it turned out to be a huge time  saver.  The  fish, sun, palm tree, coconuts and shell were all simple and fun to shade with my markers.  I used solid flat coloring on the small van pieces, which turned out even and streak less. I'm surprised at how much I like the end result.  Sometimes things just come together magically!

I've done so many of these Lori Whitlock pop up box cards, I can practically assemble them blindfolded.  Everyone loves a card that does tricks, so they're worth a little extra creative effort.

Thanks for visiting,
Go forth and honor the wonderful men in your life.

Let's Taco Bout Heart Day - Pop-Up-Box-Card Valentine

Lori Whitlock pop-up-box-card svg, Cricut Design Space sun and tacos, Cricut writing feature for sentiments,
orange and brown Tim Holtz distress ink, red check card stock, blue card stock. blue card stock

Hey there,

Who doesn't love a silly punny Valentine?!  My svg library is full of  Lori Whitlock pop-up-box-cards because they're my favorite "go-to" for impressive simple cards. This one is perfect for my darling hubby who loves tacos and silliness.  I changed up Lori's original card design with some images from my Cricut Design Space library because, although the smiley faces on the tacos in the original design are super adorable, I wanted mine to be less chatty.  I added some sunshiny cheerfulness to my back panel with a layered sun that matched my theme.  It's super fun browsing through the thousands of images in Cricut Design Space because there's always just the right image for any design.  These yummy looking tacos are in the "Fast Food" image set and the sun is in the "Ole" image set.

I sized the Lori Whitlock card base to create a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 square card when folded.  I used the Cricut writing feature to personalize my sentiments.  The sun is embellished with shiny gold studs and both the sun and tacos are sponged with dye-based ink to give them dimension.

Taco bout fun!  Another fast and amusing punny Valentine for the books.

Thanks for visiting.
Go forth and have some Valentine pun.

Snowman Greetings From Our House to Yours - Lori Whitlock Shutter Card

Snowflakes are one of nature's most fragile things,
but look at what they can do when they stick together.

Lori Whitlock svg, designer paper, swirl punch, assorted gens, silver leafing pen,
copics for shading, Cricut Maker, Cricut design space writing feature

Hey there,

Creating cards for my multi-talented card group has always been both a delight and a challenge.  It's so enjoyable making something special for them because I know they'll appreciate my efforts, no matter what I come up with.  But it's also a little daunting designing something special for friends I know are going to fashion their own masterpieces.  This year I have already received Christmas cards from some of my besties and they are nothing less than INCREDIBLE. It seems extra time in the craft room has resulted in some very intricate and elaborate designs.

While this fairly simple card may not win awards for my most fancy and complex,  I loved creating this Lori Whitlock shutter card because the fold is new to me and it was so easy and fun to create on my Cricut Maker.  I can imagine using this fold for all types of cards and I hope my friends will see the possibilities, also. The sentiment comes from my heart because I'm missing them so much after my recent move.  Although I can't meet with the group as I used to (and they haven't met for months because of covid restrictions) we can still use snail mail to communicate our love and exchange ideas.  I would be lost without my cardmaking buddies and all the blessings they bring!

Thanks for visiting.
Go forth and create something special for a friend to express your love.

Joyful Traditions - Lori Whitlock Pop-up Box Card SVG

And the angel said unto them: Fear not,  for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all people.      Luke 2:10

Hey there,

The joy and peace of Christmas has meant so much to me this year as I have experienced and witnessed countless miracles as a result of our epic worldwide trial.  I know many of my friends and family are feeling the same way. How about you?  Along with our challenges  (physically, emotionally and spiritually)  many of us have come to realize and appreciate our most precious blessings...those we love.

I had a fabulous time making several of  these festive z-fold cards for friends and family this year. I sized a holiday wreath in Cricut design space to customize this fun Lori Whitlock pop-up box card svg.  I chose this joyful, uplifting greeting and traditional icons to evoke the spirit and beauty of the season. I used the Cricut writing feature to write the sentiment on my panel.

Although my family can't celebrate in our customary way, I'm finding that Christmas movies,  a colorfully lit tree full of treasured ornaments from years gone by and a blazing fireplace warming my husband  and me as we snuggle in our quilts on the couch go a long way to ignite our Christmas spirits.  Next year at this time, I'm sure we'll all have some inspiring tales of miracles, lessons and adventures, some of which will undoubtedly be much more amusing in hindsight!

Thanks for visiting.
Go forth and bring some Christmas joy to someone whose spirit could use a lift.

Graduation Cards for My Friend - Lori Whitlock Soar and Fly

You have within you right now, everything you need to deal with
whatever the world can throw at  you.  Brian Tracy
Lori Whitlock svg, Cricut Maker, Cricut Design Space cutting and writing features,
swirl embossing folder for clouds, red marker for Congratulations

Hey there,

Even though I don't have graduating seniors in my family this year, I was privileged to help my dear friend who couldn't go shopping for cards for her grand nieces and nephews due to the quarantine.   It's hard to know how to do service for loved ones during this time of social distancing so I jumped at the chance to create three cards for her to send.  I was a little worried about coming up with something unique and fun that would suit both young men and women.  Lori Whitlock and my Cricut came to my rescue yet again!

I was excited to find this adorable svg in Lori Whitlock's shop.  I've made several pop-up box cards, so cutting and assembling were a cinch.  As I customized the sentiments in Cricut Design Space using the writing feature I imagined how amazing it would be to add further personalization with names, schools, etc.  I didn't know the school colors so I went with a generic red, white and blue palette, which I think works well here.

I like the way these cards turned out and was happy to see my friend's smile when I presented them to her with stamped envelopes, ready to address and send.  She used the word "charming" to describe them. I loved making her happy and now I have this fun file in Cricut Design Space just waiting to be customized for future grads.

Thanks for visiting,

Lori Whitlock Shaped Card - Glittery Easter Chick

The great gift of Easter is hope.
Basil Hume

Lori Whitlock svg, floral dp, yellow glitter paper, Cricut Maker, pink glitter gem, Nuvo clear glaze

Hey there,

Nothing says Easter like a cute fuzzy (glittery) chick.  I found this adorable svg in Lori Whitlock's store and knew it would be perfect to create  cards  to wish my friends and family a Happy Easter. A little happy mail should be a welcome distraction from  the fact that the Bunny won't be filling their baskets with See's candy this year.  Some of the goodies in my baskets will  include handmade face masks and grocery store gift cards.  And that bunny better wear gloves and a mask when he's hopping around my house.  But some cozy holiday simpatico with family is better than sugar any day.

I used my Cricut Maker to cut the pieces for my shaped card, which measures 5 x 7 inches.  The chick is cut out of yellow glitter paper and the small features out of white card stock which I colored with my Copics.  I chose a pretty floral print dp for my card base and lined the inside with a blue card stock panel. My chick is adorned with a pretty gold metallic polka dot bow accented with a glittery pink gem. I used Nuvo clear glaze over the eye to give it shiny dimension.

I used the Print then Cut feature in Cricut Design Space to create my border sentiment, which I edged with a gold leafing pen.  The inside sentiment is a Hero Arts stamp.

Thanks for visiting.
Go forth and be thankful for the blessings of Easter.

My Punny Valentines, Part Deux - Lori Whitlock Pop Up Box Cards

If you would be loved,  love and be lovable.
Benjamin Franklin

It's that delightful time of year again when we get to unabashedly declare our love and appreciation to those we adore.  If I had the time and energy,  I would send hundreds of cards to friends, family and even some congenial acquaintances who go about their lives every day making people feel special.

Last year I purchased a couple of fantastic pop-up box card valentine bundles from Lori Whitlock's svg shop and I couldn't wait to revisit them this year to choose some new adorable punny cards.  As I did last year, I made multiples of four valentines, so I'd have some variety for the many valentines I make each year but I could also do some assembly line magic. Did I mention I LOVE Valentines Day? There are still some really darling files waiting in the que for next year.

I uploaded my four svg cutting files into Cricut Design Space and sized them for 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 cards (when closed).  I used my cutting and writing features to print the sentiments and then die cut the file pieces on my Maker.  All the pieces fit together perfectly and, although it required a serious time commitment,  they were super easy to assemble.  Here's Lori's easy-to-follow YouTube tutorial.  I searched my stash for blingy embellishments like sequins, beads, rhinestones, washi tape, brads...anything that would add to their kitschy appeal.

The difficult part is always deciding which card fits which recipient.  Gushy sentiments lend themselves to a variety of applications, but it comes down to the decision of deciding whether someone would rather be considered cute or cool.  I'd go with cute...but that's just me.

Thankfully, everyone in my love orb is sorta cute, very cool and has a gigantic piece of my heart, so I think I'm covered here.

Thanks for visiting.
Go forth and make someone's day by sending them a heartfelt snail mail love note.

My Punny Valentines - Lori Whitlock Pop Up Box Cards

I know I am in love with you because my reality is finally better than my dreams.
Dr. Seuss

Do you remember how fun Valentine's Day was when you were a child in elementary school? In the "olden days" we used to decorate shoe boxes with stickers, crate paper and construction paper, and  on Valentine's Day everyone excitedly delivered a personalized card to each student's "mail" box. The small cards usually came in packages from the Drug Store and most of them had pictures with silly  puns on them. Some of them even had conversation hearts attached!  I remember spending the evening before our class Valentine party making sure to address each card with the recipient in mind. What fun it was opening the cards and  reading a message from each classmate...even the boys who at the time, I imagined,  had cooties.

I'm so happy Lori Whitlock has carried on the "punny" tradition with her Pop Up Box Card Valentine SVG's. I usually send several Valentines to friends and family because I love telling my favorite people how much I love them and this is the time to shamelessly lay it all out there.  The cute puns on these cards are just silly enough for me to get away with some seriously "mushy" declarations.

My talented crafty girlfriends love to exchange handmade cards for holidays and I always end up with a panoply of gorgeous creations.  When I saw Lori's darling designs, my first thought was to make each one of my friends a different card, but when I realized how many cards I would be making for both friends and family,  I decided to make multiples of three different ones, with a special, more clean and simple one for my sweetie. The others I'll save for next year. I had a blast adding some special personality to them with embellishments and patterned paper. I used the writing feature in Cricut Design Studio to write some personalized messages.  I think Valentines are fast becoming my faves.

I chose this little s'more guy for my hubby because he reminds me of romantic nights around the campfire on our many camping trips.  I left off some of the schmancy embellies to  make it less blingy.   I admit, the pink is a little girly, but it IS Valentine's Day, after all.  Hope you have a happy one!

Celebrate the Joy of the Season - Lori Whitlock 3-D Snowman SVG

Snowman Wisdom: Stand tall, be cool, accessorize, smile, make people happy just by being you, go outside, things will all turn out if you just stick together.

Lori Whitlock svg, dotted and glitter Bazzill card stock, Nuvo Drops, rhinetones,
Merry Christmas, everyone.

A cheerful wintry snowman scene seemed like the perfect way to wish my loved ones Merry Christmas this year.  It's  about 60 degrees outside right now in sunny California so conjuring up a white Christmas in my craft room is a fun way to get in the spirit.

I made about thirty of these cards, so I needed them to be less labor intensive than my usual cards, but I wanted them to also reflect the love and care I spent making them.  I chose this cute Lori Whitlock svg and cut the layers out on my Cricut Explore Air. I created dimension be alternating dotted and glitter Bazzill card stock for the sky, snow and card front.  The smaller pieces like the nose and holly were cut out on plain white cardstock so I could easily color them with my Copics.  This is so much faster and easier. Why didn't I think of this earlier?

The shiny black eyes and buttons on my snowman are black Nuvo drops.  I added rhinestones to the centers of my snowflakes for sparkly dimension.

A little sprig of pine and a rhinestone embellish the die cut inside message.

Stampendous Christmas Card - Laurel Burch and Copics

Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.

Hey there,

Laurel Burch and Copic markers go together like Christmas cookies and hot chocolate, don't you think?  It was a delight coloring this sweet little cat and dog duo from Stampendous in vivid colors (ala Laurel Burch) for the focal point of a Christmas card I recently created for my besties. I thought this cute, cuddly image fit well  with my message of "peace on earth."  I used a Lori Whitlock svg for my side step base, cut coordinating mats for the card front and stairs, and sized it to my favorite 5 x 7.

The "PEACE ON EARTH" letters were a snap to weld to the separate card mats in Cricut Design Space and provided stability and precision when I glued the glossy red letters on top. I cut a few pine sprigs for embellishments to fit the steps and added Christmas Red Stickles for berries. My  handy go-to Nuvo drops worked perfectly on the  spots and fringe to add a little texture and shine.

One note of caution, though. Glue and glossy card stock don't make the best marriage.  Even the smallest amount of  glue shows on the card stock and it's hard to clean up or disguise.  I used a small alcholol wipe for clean ups, but it removed some of the color on the cardstock in some areas.  A little glossy card stock goes a long way...something to remember in the future!

Side step cards leave a lot of  fabulous "real estate" for imagining and creating.  I definitely need to design cards with this versatile base more often.

Cricut Happy Fall, Y'all - Lori Whitlock Pop Up Box Card

👉  "Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting, and autumn a mosaic of them all."  - Stanley Horowitz

.
I have oodles of delightful house images in my craft stash in every form...stamps, die cuts, embossing folders, designer paper, fabric..apparently I'm obsessed.  I'm obviously drawn to these cozy images and the warm feelings they evoke.  This darling Lori Whitlock Pop Up Box Card House has been patiently waiting for my attention for ages and I finally found the perfect way to make it my own. I traded it's original sunshiny summer scene for a warm, vibrant fall landscape.

The cut already had everything I needed to create a charming autumn neighborhood.  I added a few more colorful trees from Cricut Design Space which I easily sized in different styles to fit my variegated orchard.  Patterned designer paper in dots, checks and swirls is always a fun choice for tree leaves and I sponged the edges with distress ink to soften the colors. I changed the original sentiment to "Happy Fall, Y'all" and viola, a colorful fall greeting for my friends, ushering in my favorite season.  Now I'm off for a walk in the gorgeous wetlands near to my home to watch the trees slowly evolve into a vivid kaleidoscope of color. It will take awhile but it'll be fun watching the daily transformation and well worth the finale.  Awww, Autumn.
